Vancouver neighbourhood guide

Fairview.
False Creek living, city at your door.

Walk the seawall to Granville Island, browse the galleries of South Granville, or be downtown in minutes. Fairview puts the water, the city and some of Vancouver’s best views close to home.

I’m Debbie Evans, REALTOR® with eXp Realty and Registered Interior Designer. I help buyers and sellers look beyond the listing photos to understand the home, the building and how the neighbourhood will fit their lives.

Get to know the area

From the water’s edge to Broadway.

Fairview runs from False Creek up to 16th Avenue, between Burrard and Cambie. It takes in Granville Island, the Fairview Slopes, South Granville and the Central Broadway corridor around Vancouver General Hospital. The name comes from the views north to downtown and the North Shore mountains.

Choosing the right home

Fairview offers a wide mix: townhomes and low-rise condos on the Slopes, waterfront homes in False Creek South, and newer towers near Broadway. Some False Creek South homes sit on City-owned leasehold land, so the lease terms matter as much as the floor plan. Building age, strata documents, exposure and view all deserve a close look.

A practical perspective

As a Registered Interior Designer, I bring nearly 40 years of design, construction and renovation experience. When we look at a property together, I can help you ask useful questions about its layout, light and renovation potential, alongside the real-estate details.

Beyond the neighbourhood

Paddle, cycle and get outside.

False Creek is calm water for kayaks, paddleboards and dragon boats, with rentals and clubs around Granville Island and the seawall. The seawall and the Burrard and Cambie bridge bike lanes connect Fairview to downtown, Stanley Park and the beaches of Kitsilano.

For a bigger day, the North Shore mountains are a drive away. Grouse, Cypress and Seymour offer hiking in summer and skiing in winter. They are separate destinations rather than walkable neighbourhood amenities.

Schools & family planning

Check the school with the address.

These schools serve parts of Fairview. Because the neighbourhood is split across several catchments, inclusion here does not establish a property’s catchment, eligibility, program availability or admission.

Your questions

Before you choose Fairview.

How will the Broadway Subway affect Fairview?

The extension adds South Granville and Oak–VGH stations under Broadway and is scheduled to open in 2027. It will make east–west travel much faster. Homes near the new stations may also see more development nearby, so it’s worth checking the City’s Broadway Plan for the blocks you’re considering.

What does leasehold mean in False Creek South?

Many homes in False Creek South sit on land leased from the City of Vancouver rather than owned outright. The remaining lease term, the lease conditions and the strata’s plans all affect value and financing. Review the lease documents with your lawyer before you buy.

Can I get downtown without a car?

Yes. The Canada Line runs from Broadway–City Hall and Olympic Village stations, the Burrard and Cambie bridges have bike lanes, and small ferries cross False Creek from Granville Island. Plan the full trip from the property you’re considering.

Does this page confirm school catchments?

No. It lists schools to investigate. Confirm catchments using the exact property address with the Vancouver School Board.

Debbie was my real estate agent in August 2025. I sold my townhouse in Fairview slopes. It was a tough time to sell as buyers were in ‘wait and see’ mode regarding price drops. Debbie was brilliant from the get go. She has combined experience in interior design and real estate. She coordinated all pre-listing prep work, such as furniture removal and handyman work. She gave me the staging and presentation strategy prior to ‘launch’. In addition, she had backup improvement plans prepared and priced in advance (in case it did not sell). As it turned out, we had a strong market response with multiple offers and, gratefully, a quick sale. For me, the seller, it was all rather easy 😊. Debbie did all of the work. She is very professional, very approachable, and a real pleasure to work with. If you are looking for a realtor; I highly recommend Debbie!
