West Vancouver neighbourhood guide

Dundarave.
Village by the sea.

Morning coffee on Marine Drive, a sunset walk to the end of the pier, the seawalk to Ambleside. Dundarave is West Vancouver’s seaside village, with the beach at the bottom of the street and the mountains behind.

I’m Debbie Evans, REALTOR® with eXp Realty and Registered Interior Designer. I help buyers and sellers look beyond the listing photos to understand the home, the building and how the neighbourhood will fit their lives.

Get to know the area

A seaside village with a long history.

Dundarave Village begins at 24th Street and Marine Drive, where a cairn marks its start. Below the village shops are Dundarave Park, its sandy beach and the pier, with views west to Point Atkinson Lighthouse.

Choosing the right home

Housing ranges from waterfront concrete apartment buildings, some dating to the early 1960s, to newer boutique condos near the village and detached homes on the slopes above. With older buildings, the depreciation report, envelope and plumbing history and any planned special assessments matter as much as the view.

A practical perspective

As a Registered Interior Designer, I bring nearly 40 years of design, construction and renovation experience. When we look at a property together, I can help you assess its layout, light and renovation potential, alongside the real-estate details.

Your questions

Before you choose Dundarave.

Can I live in Dundarave without a car?

Day to day, many people do. The village, beach and seawalk are walkable, and Blue Bus routes run along Marine Drive. Trips to the mountains, Lighthouse Park or Horseshoe Bay are easier with a car.

What should I check in an older waterfront building?

Review the depreciation report, recent and planned work on the building envelope, windows and plumbing, the contingency reserve fund and any special assessments. Then look at the suite’s layout and what a renovation would realistically involve. I can help you organize those questions.

How far is downtown Vancouver?

Downtown is across the Lions Gate Bridge, by car or on the Route 250 bus. Bridge traffic varies a lot by time of day, so test the trip at the hours you’d travel.

Does this page confirm school catchments?

No. It lists schools to investigate. Confirm catchments with West Vancouver Schools using the exact property address.

Debbie was my real estate agent in August 2025. I sold my townhouse in Fairview slopes. It was a tough time to sell as buyers were in ‘wait and see’ mode regarding price drops. Debbie was brilliant from the get go. She has combined experience in interior design and real estate. She coordinated all pre-listing prep work, such as furniture removal and handyman work. She gave me the staging and presentation strategy prior to ‘launch’. In addition, she had backup improvement plans prepared and priced in advance (in case it did not sell). As it turned out, we had a strong market response with multiple offers and, gratefully, a quick sale. For me, the seller, it was all rather easy 😊. Debbie did all of the work. She is very professional, very approachable, and a real pleasure to work with. If you are looking for a realtor; I highly recommend Debbie!
